The range includes the Hiplok D1000, DX1000 and DXL1000 – high-security locks designed specifically to provide protection against one of the tools commonly used in bike theft: the angle grinder.
So, what makes them different, and why are we recommending them?

Motorcycle security has changed
A good lock has always been an important part of protecting a motorcycle or scooter.
However, modern thieves have access to powerful battery-operated angle grinders that can make relatively quick work of some conventional locks.
This is where the Hiplok 1000 Series really stands out.
Rather than simply making a conventional lock bigger and heavier, Hiplok has developed its 1000 Series using a specialist composite material designed to resist angle grinder attacks.
The material is designed to wear down cutting discs, making it significantly more difficult to cut through the lock.
The range also features a double-locking system designed to prevent the lock from simply being rotated after an attack, while the rubberised outer shackle helps protect your motorcycle’s finish.
For us, that combination makes the Hiplok 1000 Series a particularly compelling choice for motorcycle owners who want to take security seriously.
Hiplok D1000 – compact motorcycle security
The Hiplok D1000 is the original lock in the 1000 Series and is the most compact option.
With a 92 x 155mm locking area, it provides a balance between high-security protection and portability.
It can be used for motorcycles, bicycles and e-bikes, making it a versatile option if you want a lock that can easily travel with you.
The D1000 features Hiplok’s anti-angle grinder technology, double locking tabs and a protective rubberised coating.
It also carries the Sold Secure Powered Cycle Diamond rating and an ART 4 Star rating.
Why we recommend it: If you want serious security in a relatively compact package, the D1000 is an excellent option.

Hiplok DX1000 – designed with motorcycles in mind
The DX1000 takes things up a size.
With a 112 x 205mm locking area, it gives you additional space for securing larger motorcycles and bikes.
It uses the same anti-angle grinder technology as the D1000, alongside the double locking system and rubberised outer shackle.
The DX1000 also offers different carry options, making it practical for motorcycle owners who want to take their security with them.
Why we recommend it: For many motorcycle owners, the DX1000 offers an excellent combination of size, usability and high-level security.

Hiplok DXL1000 – maximum reach
If you need more space, there’s the Hiplok DXL1000.
With a 112 x 270mm locking area, it’s the largest of the three 1000 Series D locks.
That extra length can make a big difference when you’re trying to secure your motorcycle to a suitable fixed object, such as a substantial post or other suitable anchor point.
Like the other locks in the range, the DXL1000 uses Hiplok’s anti-angle grinder technology and features double locking tabs and a protective rubberised outer shackle.
It also carries the Sold Secure Powered Cycle Diamond rating.
Why we recommend it: If maximum reach is important to you, the DXL1000 gives you the greatest flexibility of the three.

Which Hiplok 1000 Series Lock Is Right for You?
Choosing the right lock isn’t necessarily about buying the biggest one.
It’s about finding the right combination of security, size and practicality for your motorcycle and where you normally park it.
Hiplok D1000
Locking area: 92 x 155mm
Hiplok DX1000
Locking area: 112 x 205mm
Hiplok DXL1000
Locking area: 112 x 270mm
One important thing to consider is what you’re actually locking your motorcycle to.
A larger lock isn’t automatically better if you don’t have a suitable fixed object that it can reach. Equally, a compact lock may not provide enough clearance for your particular motorcycle.
If you’re unsure which model will work best, it’s always worth checking the dimensions of your bike and intended locking point before buying.
